Doesnt seem to allow legal moves

Doesnt let me move my pawn forward 1 space, and says I cant move my bishop 1 space. Ive been playing chess for years, Im not putting my king in check and I know the rules, so what gives?

Dont Bother

Pretty poor engine. Im no master at all but beat it too easily several times. No challenge at all.

Terrible graphics

Not user-friendly at all. Graphics are horrible, and movements are jerky.

terrible.

the graphics are horrible, worse than atari. the movement is wack… seems like it was created by a college level programer for a class project maybe. sorry to complain, but this is pointless. ill keep playing on my phone until mac apps get better for chess.

Whats the problem?

I see some reviews harping about the graphics, its chess! Anyways I would call it OK.

Choose sides

I want to play black half the time, but there is no such option.

What?!

It draws & checkmates at the wrong times. Uninstall!

It is cute and free!

"Thank you!" These programmers work hard to make a program like this. Even a simple program takes a lot of work. I know because I have a thick book on how to program your Mac devices. One of these days, something so simple turns into something great and it started out small. I remember a hand full of programs that was free that turned into paid applications. Anyways... I am on disability income and barely have any spending money. Normally a full featured chess program with Elo levels from 0 to 3000 would cost around 50 bucks. As a compliment... this cute free version is something I would pass on to my little descendants.

Macs are stylized; make games to match.

It delivers a fairly decent game. The design is clunky and unattractive from the text to the pieces and board.

Horrible!

It says a lot of completely legal moves are illegal! Im not stupid! It practically keeps you from winning!

Okay Game

The gameplay is overall quite average. My only complaint is the application force quits when the computer is about to lose.

Illigal Moves

Perhaps the developers should go back and review the rules of chess because Im trying to make completely legitimate moves here and it wont let me. It was the last straw when my strategy was completely thwarted because it wouldnt let me move my bishop to take the opponents queen. This is how they play chess in the bizarro world.

Enables 2-player games

I was interested in 2-player game mode, as a way to examine and analyze chess games. The graphics were clear, and the undo button worked, except once the end of the game was reached. Draw by repetition was claimed too early. The reason this program didn’t suit my needs is that it does not display a list of the games played. I did not evaluate the strength of the chess engine.

Not very good

Better than the built-in Chess app, but not by much. Game play is choppy, graphics make the pieces hard to recognize, the sounds are hoakie, and the AI is not very smart at all. It’s OK for the price.

rules not complete

does not allow castling, does not allow pawn to be replaced by any figure when in the opponents starting field

castle in check?

I have to immediately question any program that allows you to castle when king is in check…

Very easy, computer AI is rather dumb

As a developer I understand that it’s not easy to write a good chess game. But this one has very “dumb” AI. Some of the moves are just stupid. The game is not very good and not challenging at all.
